Our pet policy

We know a vacation, or a whole season in Florida, is better with your dog along. At Beachy Keen we consider pets case by case. We can usually approve non-shedding, potty-trained dogs, and there is a fee of $75 per approved pet. Please send us a message before booking with your dog's breed, size and age so we can confirm. Bringing a pet without approval isn't allowed.

Pool safety with pets

The heated pool is inside the screened lanai next to the living areas. Please supervise pets around the pool at all times, and never leave a dog alone on the lanai. If your dog isn't a confident swimmer, keep them with you when the lanai door is open.

Dog-friendly places near Cape Coral

Southwest Florida has several good spots for dogs. Check each place's rules before you go, because hours and policies change:

• Wagging Tails Dog Park at Rotary Park, an off-leash dog park in Southwest Cape Coral run by the City of Cape Coral (see the city parks list). Directions
• Lee County Dog Beach on Bonita Beach Causeway, an off-leash tidal beach open dawn to dusk. Plan around the tides; at mid to high tide you have to wade to reach it (Lee County Parks). Directions
• Lee County keeps a list of dog parks and on-leash dog-friendly parks, including Matlacha Park and Causeway Islands.

Most Gulf beaches limit dogs, so check local rules before you bring your dog to the beach.

Tips for traveling with your dog

Bring your dog's own bed or crate, food and bowls, and a leash for neighborhood walks. Florida afternoons can be hot, so plan walks for early morning or evening and carry water. Tell us about your dog when you inquire so we can answer questions and confirm approval before you book.

Why the home works for dog owners

Beachy Keen is a single-family house with driveway parking, so you aren't walking a dog through a lobby or hallway. Inside, a washer and dryer help with towels and bedding. Outside, the screened lanai gives you a shaded, bug-free spot to sit with your pet. The house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and sleeps up to 6 people.

Longer stays with pets
